... for our second Auckland SiTP meeting.

*UPDATED* - confirmed that Matthew Dentith (speaker at the Skeptics conference, former JREF scholarship winner and star of The Dentith Files on bFM) will give a talk on conspiracy theories on Thursday night.*

The Horse and Trap have just confirmed Thursday October 8th (the 15th wasn't available) for our next meeting. I realise this only gives 9 days for people to reply so please spread the word via twitter/blogs etc.

I'm hoping that most of you had freed up your Thursdays anyway so it won't be too much of a hassle.

It would be great to get another large attendance given the generosity of the pub.

We will have a more formal agenda this time, including a talk/presentation of some sort. I'll confirm exactly who will be speaking as soon as possible and I'll post the agenda on the message board.

I'll also be attempting to book in a November date for the third meeting as soon as possible so people have more time to reply.

Remember to keep checking the website and the messageboards for updated information and to network with your fellow skeptics.

Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Thursday.

Yours in skepticality

I'll second Colin's request; if there was someone recording the event (I thought I did see a video camera in someone's hand) I'd quite like a copy of my talk.

Would it be possible for someone to record the reading from Matthew (conspiracy theories) and post it somewhere? Am super stinked that i'll miss the meeting. I would guess that the November meeting is still on the first thursday? (5th)

    •  Bloody great. Really nice to hang around people with the same mindset and talk about some great issues.
    •  Another good meeting, thanks to Mike for taking charge. Nice to have a speaker, it ties the evening together. Food was good, pizza seemed to go a bit further than the food at the first meeting. Like last time, it's great to talk to like minded folk about a range of topics. Good stuff.

I had an excellent time and greatly enjoyed the contacts. I wonder if we should arange the furniture a liitle better so we don't have the tall leaners in the front row of the audience inadvertantly blocking the view of the seated people behind. Would it help to give out name stickers on payment of the eating levy to aid administration and also assit the failing memories of we of the aging persuasion? Thanks for your efforts in setting up this most interesting group John Mackie
    •  Better organised this time and I was actually able to stay behind and have some very interesting chats in addition to the more formal stuff.

Really good... well structured and it's good having a guest speaker
    •  Nice venue, which is definitely part of the experience. Also, I like being able to move around easily - a different chair, a different table. Pizza - Yum! Speaker ? A natural orator with a good subject. Thank you for coming!
    •  Excellent speaker and the quiz was a good ice breaker to get to know others.

the talk was too long for a pub format. I think 15-30 mins would be far better. The quiz was awesome though!
