First of all, an apology. The meetup is the same evening as everyone's favourite fake psychic John Edward is in town and I know so many of you wanted to go to be cold read...

So 5th November it is. We have no speaker at the present time but there are some ideas for the next meeting:

1) A much better quiz
2) Watching a skeptical video (like Brian Dunning's 'Here Be Dragons')
3) A round the table discussion

Does anyone know any cold readers who might want to give a talk or do some readings so we can have our own 'psychic' evening?

I'll confirm closer to the time the exact rundown of the evening, but it should be a good night. At the last meeting I had time to sit down with some very interesting people at the end of the night and just had a great time. I can definitely recommend holding back to the end.

There are so many different opinions out there but just being able to discuss it with other skeptics is a privilege.

There will be pizzas again (as this MAY be our last meeting at the Horse and Trap) - so it's incredibly important that you let us know if you are or aren't coming.

Last meeting 11 people RSVP'd yes but didn't turn up. Thankfully there was some money left over from the first meeting or some people would have had to dip into their pocket to pay more than their fair share.

That's about it. I'm about to open a 'ideas for guests' topic on the messageboard for everyone to give us the great ideas for future guests...

Oh, and be sure to check out last meeting's guest Matthew Dentith on Media 7 on Thursday night. He'll be on the panel alongside NZ Skeptics' Vicki Hyde.

Russell Brown also gave an indication on his blog today that Bad Science's Ben Goldacre may be visiting New Zealand next year so it's an awesome time to be a skeptic!
