    AUD?

Meetup.com doesn't know about the kiwi peso, hence AUD is the only choice. But whatever gold coin you have will be fine!

What was the reasoning for moving from the venue from the Horse and Trap?

The horse and trap has free parking right outside. Had a lot of room downstairs, had chairs!, had a bar with good finger food on the menu.

I enjoyed the April first meetup. at tonights meetup, standing up for over an hour, peeking over shoulders, made this one a bit less enjoyable.

+1 vote for the old venue.

Yes Matt, I agree I miss the old venue, however we didn't generate enough cash for the bar to warrant another stay there.

I enjoyed the talk (although it needed polishing), but not the venue. Can we negotiate the terms at the Horse and Trap venue? If they want more money I for one would be happy to pay a small fee for using it. I think any venue we use needs parking, adequate room, seating, food, drinks, and a talking friendly environment.

Gents. Last nights temporary arrangements were acknowledged by Craig at the start of the presentation. If the Meetup is held on a Monday or Tuesday in the future The Windsor has a side room that can be closed off with seating and a bar that we can use. Last night there was a pre-arranged band playing there. And there was plenty of parking down the hill a bit - specially at 7pm. I suggest we see what Craig comes up with and give it a proper chance.

Well said Grant, 3 or 4 mins walk downhill there was plenty of parking at 6.30.

This is the first time I've attended a meeting in a wine cellar.
I think it would be useful for John to watch a video of himself presenting, this might give him an insight into what the audience was experiencing.

Liked the topic but venue killed much chance of pre/post interaction. As mentioned was temporary so happy to give it another chance. I wandered by mistake into the next door room which has been mentioned as the proposed venue. Certainly larger but wonder about the noise from adjacent bar. For those who don't know there is usually free parking available further down Parnell Rd by Fraser Park, if none near the venue. It is a short hike but ok on a fine night

Well I think it's safe to say that while it was great to have the Windsor as a venue to tide us over for May's meeting, it's not going to cut it as a long term arrangement. The wine cellar was cramped, airless and a terrible fire risk IMO Was also disappointing that chivalry is clearly a thing of the past - I'm guessing we can thank the feminists for that! I'm sure we'd have better luck with venues on a Mon/Tues. I'm going to look around since it's integral to the success of presentations that the audience is comfortable.

Well always great to meetup with my fellow skeptics. However I have to say, for SitP the venue is not suitable, finding a park is shocking (ended up pay $7) the bar area was far to loud, and being in the main area meant I didn't know who was part of the group. and of course the down stairs was to small. (also didn't like the lighting upstairs lol) the talk was too long, too technical, and a little unpolished. Great turn out :D gutted I didn't get to meet everyone. the venue was nice however I don't think it is appropriate for SitP, still had a great night!!! loved the chocolate boutique ^_^ Happy to try this place on a Monday or something, but if it doesn't work I vote for a new venue. Thanks to everyone who came!!! and thanks Craig for organizing it, and thanks John for the talk!!!

Very impressed with the large number of people who attended but the venue was terrible. Airless room, 61 people crammed in, standing room only, no food available, very noisy bar upstairs. Speaker showed small excerpts from the movie 'What the bleep do we know?' and rightly pointed out the flaws in their pseudoscience ie how their explanation of the double slit experiment is fallacious. However he laboured the same point for nearly 1 1/2 hours (could have been made in 10 minutes). There was no opportunity at all for interaction between attendees.

It's always good to catch up with fellow skeptics but this was a little too cramped. Very interesting talk. Not very polished but interesting all the same. Cheers!

The venue was too small and there was no seating. The material was okay but a little technical at times and some technical problems.

I think if we can give the larger side room a fair go then we'll be in a better position to make a judgement call. If it has all the facilities we need for no additional cost vs the H&T that wanted more money then the Windsor Castle gets my vote.
