I have a strong allergy to woo - thought it was time to find some like minded people.

So are you suggesting we have people come and talk about the age of the plannet every and evolution every month?
Agreed.

I've been following this issue a bit, from the 'atheists believe this' faction, to the SGU dubbed 'Big Tent' approach. I lean toward the big tent version, in that at heart athiesm is a lack of belief in a deity and most other issues fall somewhere on a spectrum depending on political leanings. Also, I am not so much in favour in banning things I don't like. Lets continue this debate via email (with no character restrictions)
No no, Gisborne Lunar Society. A frontier post of the rationalist society, so-called because they meet the weekend closest to the full moon. Confusion is their most popular outcome. I have only managed to make it to one actual meeting, and was amused by the chairperson spending an hour annoucing he was a militant atheist, that it was the only position of truth, that James Randi was his idol, Mother Teresa one of the most evil people to exist, etc, etc. Fun stuff.
I think perhaps we could put together a proposal for this particular carpark, no? A model that keeps them earning but doesn't scare aware their clientele.
If you feel like starting SitP Gizzy, I'm all in. As yet, have found the Gisborne Lunar Society a diversion, but seems most godless folk head north. For now, will keep up the job hunt. If it goes well, then def will be at the next meet. Bus ticket in hand!
$250! Thats a bit steep ain't it!? For 45mins in a mostly empty car park?......
*sigh*
At least you got it back though...... And may I congratulate you on keeping a cool head throughout with only the occassional slide into sarcasm. Well done you.
