Hi everyone,
Apologies for the lack of communication after the superb first meeting. Don't you hate it when real life gets in the way of fun stuff? The great news is that the Horse and Trap are giving us the use of the space free for the next two months. December might be a bit difficult with Christmas parties, but I get the feeling if we keep on showing up in big numbers then the Horse and Trap could well be the home of Auckland Skeptics in the Pub for the foreseeable future. The great thing was it was private, we had use of the outdoors and the beer and nibbles were good. (And we already have $35 waiting for the next meetup). Given it took a little while for us to find out if we had use of the pub I'm proposing we find a date around the middle of October for the next meeting - probably the 15th. I'll confirm with the pub that it's available and then I'll set up the meet-up. We want to make sure we give people enough time to get organised and make sure they're free on that date. After that we can go for the first Thursday (as seemed to be favoured by the last attendees) in November, which will be the 5th. That means we've potentially got 3 weeks until the next meeting and then three weeks after that until the next. Look out for a poll in the next hour regarding nibbles and whether people are happy to pay to attend or want donations to be voluntary. Yours in skepticality Mike nzskeptic |

In re the polls: I voted yes to nibbles, but i didn't have any at the first meeting - my vote would be yes, but somethign less fancy (or maybe a mix of fancy and plain). I'm a sausage rolls and chips sort of person...

Re nibbles:
My vote is for something less fancy. I don't really want to be pressured to pay for general supplies of something a lot fancier than I would normally nibble on. |
