Sorry for being a bit late with this message board topic. When I said I was happy to sell my house I had forgotten it would take about two weeks to make it view-worthy!
![]() So let's hear your ideas for future guests and speakers... They can be dream guests or actual 'they're in Auckland and a bottle of wine will get them along' guests - just let us know and we'll start working towards creating a schedule! |

Perhaps we could invite one of the so-called “psychic mediums” (I wonder if they come in any other size) who claim from time to time that they have converted sceptics into believers.
People such as Sue Nicholson, Kelvin Crookshank (did I spell that correctly/) Deb Webber and this quite remarkable character, Frances Evans who can be seen strutting his stuff at http://tvnz.co.nz/vie... Or www.prophet.co.nz I am sure that they would relish the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Could be fun. b. |

I think having Richard Saunders and seeing as the SGU will be in Australia next year, maybe we can coax them over here for a visit would be a good start.

I was in contact with Vicky Hyde a few months ago about getting PZ Myers over to NZ in March after the Aussie Atheists Conference.
It could be a goer. And I know he likes beer. :-) |

How about someone from the astronomical society or the Uni Physics dept to give a talk on deep space/time. This is the international year of astronomy.
They might even work for a bottle of wine. My dad is a member of the astronomical society based at the observatory on One Tree Hill, so I could probably make a few inquiries if anyone is interested. I also have a few contacts at the uni (bio dept) so might be able to get in touch with someone at the physics dept. |

I like Colm's idea, start small and close to home, once we get a bit more organised, we could go for the bigger guns, no reason to not put in the ground work now! Would like to hear more about the space-time thing, the whole time/clocks slows down thing, melted my brain on a SciAm podcast!
Would we be able to try and incorporate something in with the Armageddon crowd too? Like Dragoncon did in the US? They got Seth Green over, and would have a bit more push/pull, and also few more contacts in a few more places. Sorry i missed the last meet up, am hanging out for the next. Any chance of having a 'catchup' in between the 'meetup'? once a month is a bit long if you miss one. |
