Hello everybody

In keeping with meetings being the first Thursday of the month, I've now scheduled the next meeting for 4th February.

Thanks to all those who attended on 15th January - it was a bit disorganised due to the last-minute-nature of it all and proximity to xmas/new year, but I think it went OK.

We'll definitely have a speaker next time, and hopefully some more activities.

So, specifically, I'm looking for ideas for speakers (and importantly, contacts) and also ideas for activities.

Cheers!

Craig

I have been using a YouTube downloader to get video of some of our science hero's lectures (PZ Myers, Ken Miller) mostly so that i don't have to download them every time.

Would it be an idea to have a 5-10 min mini-lecture from one of these guys occasionally, or inplace of a speaker??

Watching Here Be Dragons was really great, if we are able to use the gear again, having something like that would be great for increasing the knowledge.

I also have a SGU polo shirt (size s) spare that i thought i's raffle off to raise funds for the group.

Videos would be a good idea, although I think we're overdue for a live speaker...

I think I've got some "Why do people laugh at creationists" from Thunderf00t. Another good series that I've got some downloaded is "History of the universe made easy" by Potholer54

Suggestion was made in the other thread to have people talk about what they do / what's going on in their fields...

Any volunteers / nominations?

Well - I wasn't thinking _every_ episode...

:-P

Maybe a couple of the more recent ones...

You'll want to check re equipment tho... He didn't charge us last time, but he said he would the next time... be cheaper to bring a projector / screen. Someone must have one lying around. If not, let me know - I might be able to borrow one.

haha yeah that would be a bit much. One of my fav episodes is episode 20 with the creationist math, 3x4=1204 (gotta love it).

Wouldn't it be great if we could get tf00t to speak one night ;-) one can hope.

I'm printing some nametags but I can't find any stickers...

I can print them out on plain paper and cut them out...

Can anyone bring some plastic nametag holders or those little gold safety pins?

(If you've got avery stickers - #8395, #5395, or #45395 and can get them to me at New Lynn Library by 16:30 tonight let me know...)
