Mondays and Tuesdays are usually quiet nights at most pubs, hence they often have quiz nights to attract people. You may find that more pubs will accomodate us at no cost on those nights.

Several members are also members of the Auckland astronomical society, which has its meetings on Monday nights also

So not Mondays, not Tuesdays, and not Thursdays...
Is there anyone that can't do Wednesdays or Fridays? :-P |

Obviously we can’t satisfy everyone. I reckon we if have a “main meeting” (ie speaker etc) early in the week so we can get a private room, and have a less formal “meetup” 2 weeks later on another day (Wednesday or Thursday) That we should be catering to most people. We could also alternate between a Wednesday and Thursday.
Also a note on the astronomy front, if we were to have it on the first Monday of the month that clashes with the “Practical astronomy night” (which is always good) however… if we’re to have it on the 3rd Monday of the month, that would clash with “movie night” (which is ok but can be missed) Just a thought :D |

Somehow I don't think we're going to find a night when all two hundred people are free. It would take a "miracle" :P Wed/Fri are popular nights for going out. I still think Mon/Tue is our best bet. It will be nice and quiet in the pubs and most people won't have clashes on these nights. If you can't make Mon go to Thu and vice versa. Shall we just try it? We could discuss it until the second coming at this rate :P JMHO

Hi Team,
Trying to choose a date is always hard, and often it's the loudest people who have their way :-) Given Skeptic's love of facts perhaps people would like to complete a simple survey so we can pick a date based on hard-ish data: http://www.surveymonk... I'll post back the results in 5 days. Assuming there are any :-) Cheers Kerry |

we would need to take into account the availalbility of the organisers of our events - without whose efforts the events wouldn't happen - the selected day - must suit them - otherwise it will be hands up for new organisers

This doesn't need to drag on forever :-) |
